The corporate relocation to McHenry Row’s new four-story office building started design while the building was under construction. The building, which fronts I-95, allowed for great signage opportunity for the quickly growing digital marketing company that had outgrown their existing space. NFD planned them on the entire 3rd floor as an Agile environment utilizing benching style workstations which provides for a very flexible, mobile work space enhancing collaboration. Everyone in the company has full access to daylight which adds a positive enhancement. Huddle and meetings rooms are on the interior of the space with glass fronts, allowing even more filtration of daylight. The polished concrete floor and exposed ceilings in the open office areas created a noise challenge. NFD worked with an acoustical consultant and specified Tectum panels over insulation board, acoustical tile ceilings in all enclosed rooms and sound attenuation in all wall cavities. Within a year, having been acquired by British company Ascential, Flywheel grew to encompass the 2nd floor as well. NFD mimicked the 3rd floor plan while providing a 5,000 square foot sub-leasable area. To aid in communication and to provide a large meeting space where all employees can participate, NFD created a large monumental staircase which served as agent for traffic flow as well as platform seating for gatherings and training. Glass whiteboards were provided in several areas for projecting and collaboration. A clean, crisp, industrial vibe with fun accent lighting supports a workspace employees love to work in. NFD provided space planning, design development, finish selections, construction documentation, and construction administration for this 32,000 total square foot project.
“I truly appreciate the NFD team and all the work you’ve done and can assure you that if we ever have a need for more space, we’d call NFD.”
